Fused silica – also referred as fused quartz- is an amorphous phase of silica.
Compared to borosilicate wafers, fused silica has no additives.
Is almost chemically inactive.
Has a very high thermal resistance.
Has an improved optical transmission in deep UV (ultraviolet).
Silica dust particles are deposited on the substrate first, solidification of these molten particles creates a pure fused phase on the surface with the help of flame hydrolysis.
