Three Roll Mill
Three Roll Mill system consist of 3 rollers that are positioned horizontally. Rollers rotate in opposite directions from each other and have a very small gap between each other. This movement and gap between the rollers create a shear force to mix, disperse, refine and homogenize materials having a certain viscosity. A paste-like material is fed in the center of the roller system to be applied shear force. Some of the fed material passes through the gaps between rollers. After then, the remaining material is pushed into the gap in further cycles. The movement of material from one nip to another creates an even greater shear force due to the opposite rotations of rollers. After the fed material exits the last roll a cutting knife scrapes it off. The gaps between rolls can be adjusted differently.
